We arrived in Florida on April 1, 2023. We first stayed in White Springs for two days. We are now in Bushnell at least until the 17th. We may stay longer as our workamping job doesn’t start until May.
Oh, that’s right, I forgot to mention Brian chose Maine! We will be working our way back up north to Maine at the end of this month. It will be at least an eight day trip. Why 8 days you ask? Well, traveling with a travel trailer and two dogs, when the GPS says three hours, add at least two hours onto that and that is the RV Life! We try to stop at Love’s Travel Stops since we have a fleet card for diesel. While Brian waits in the trucker lane to fill up, I go to the dog park (yes, dog park, one of the perks of Love’s) to have the dogs get some energy out. Plus it is good for your body to get out and move every couple hours instead of sitting in the truck all day.
Back to Florida. We are here to make this our domicile state. Florida is one of many states that does not have state tax. Which is good for us since we won’t always be working in the same state. We wanted to pick a state that we could return to again and again if necessary. Brian lived here many moons ago (before he met me) and always talked about it. I am not a fan of humidity, so I was hesitant, but once I got here, I changed my mind (it may change back if we are ever here in the summer months). It is beautiful, and we haven’t even been to the beach yet! The campground that we are staying at has donkeys right outside of our camper and I go over and pet them every morning. I need to get carrots and/or apples to feed them. There are cows on the other side of the campground and apparently gators behind the campground, but we haven’t seen any yet. Lizards are EVERYWHERE and Tucker keeps trying to make friends with them and the donkeys. Moxxi doesn’t seem to care that there are donkeys. She loved the cows though.
It has been in the 90’s since we got here and I love the warmth, but I hate the humidity. I just feel this gross layer of sweat on me at all times, but I am getting used to it. Brian has plans to meet up with some family and friends while we are here. I would love to take an airboat ride (fingers crossed I can talk Brian into going) and I would like to visit at least one beach while we are here. I know we will be back soon, but I need some ocean air in my life.
Speaking of ocean air, the job I accepted in Maine, is right on the ocean! I will be able to see the cruise ships anchoring out in the ocean to tender passengers into port. I will be a ticket agent/gift shop clerk for a trolley tour company. I am excited for this as I will be near the ocean almost everyday and Acadia National Park is only 15 miles from where we will be staying the summer. I cannot wait to share all of the adventures we will have in Maine with you all, plus all the ‘Lobsta’ we will eat!
Brian will not be working while we are in Maine, but we have a lot of things that still need done with the camper (he may do some blogs on what he has done to it so far and as he works on them), he will work on his website as well. He will be working with the dogs to break them of separation anxiety that they got since we sold our house and have been with them 24/7 for the last month. It’s just been too much change for them.
Next week, I hope to have some activities that we did to talk about. Happy Easter everyone!
