We are officially Florida residents! This week we got all the paperwork to domicile in Florida and went to get our driver’s licenses and register the truck and camper. We have a Florida plate for the truck and will get one for the camper shortly.
We didn’t do much else this week. I did plan our trip up to Maine (which took me about 9 hours…). We have the full trip mapped out and where we will stay. It is an 18 day trip (April 17-May 5). We will spend some nights at Harvest Host locations, some at campgrounds. See our trip below. I use RV Life Trip Wizard to map everything out and then we use our RV Safe Garmin GPS to give us directions.
We spent Easter with Brian’s dad and stepmom and went to a Polish restaurant that was so yummy! We pretty much just stayed around the campground, walked he dogs, fed the donkeys, and enjoyed the weather the rest of the week.
I did get some other things done for this upcoming job. I had to get a parking permit, pay for the seasonal campsite we are going to be living at, found the local grocery store and restaurants and found stuff to do in the area we will be staying at (thank you google maps!).
We have been having issues with the dogs and haven’t been able to leave as much as we would like (they developed separation anxiety). I remember listening to a podcast and they talked about an app that you can use to find someone to watch your pets. Rover is a great app (not sponsored, yet). You can find someone to walk your pets, board, daycare, or have someone come to your home to check on your pets! They run background checks on these people too. We used this app to find someone to take our dogs for the day so that we could do some touristy things. She was really nice. She had dogs of her own, so Tucker had someone to play with. Moxxi missed us and whined most of the time and didn’t even eat. But they were excited to see us once we picked them up. I checked to see if there was anyone near where we will be in Maine, but there isn’t. There is a doggy day care close by that we can use because I have a ton planned for us in Maine already.
So while the dogs were with the sitter, we went on an airboat ride! It was great. We saw all types of birds, turtles, fish, and gators! There were quite a few baby gators on the shore line during our ride, so I didn’t get any pictures of them. We did get to meet Ally, a momma gator that hissed at us when we pulled close to her. She had babies that she was protecting (we didn’t see the babies there).
