We left Bushnell, Florida on Monday and drove up to Jacksonville to stay at a Love’s RV Hook-up. For you RVer’s out there, Love’s RV Hook-up is totally different than the Love’s RV Stop. The sites were right next to the pumps and there were some not-so-nice people blaring their car stereos at all hours of the night. So we didn’t get much sleep.
We left Jacksonville and went to Savannah, Georgia and stayed at a Harvest Host, Coastal Empire Brewery. This place was nice. They had a music trivia night and free pizza while we were there. We had some beers and played trivia. Unfortunately, we parked next to a noisy machine that ran all night and didn’t get much sleep. But we had fun here and there were other campers with us.
Tuesday we left Georgia and went up to Timmonsville, South Carolina and stayed at another Harvest Host, Ellerbe Farms. We had an amazing time here. There were 3 other camper couples with us. The owner cooked us dinner. After dinner, the owner’s daughter and his niece took us on a tour of the farm’s animals (he has a vegetable farm as well as chickens and roosters, and his brother has the animal farm across the street). After we got back, the wife delivered the vegetables we ordered. Then they had a big campfire for everyone! This was a great family and they know how to host!
After we left this amazing host, we went up to Fredericksburg, Virginia at another Harvest Host, The Battlefield Country Store. This was another great stop. It was just us here for the night and the store closed at 7pm, so we rode our electric scooters around the parking lot most of the night (why not? we had the place to ourselves!). We got milkshakes before they closed, I didn’t get pictures, but they were great! I got a cotton candy milkshake and Brian got a mint one. We got the dogs a scoop of vanilla. There was a nice little pond in the back with toads/frogs and they croaked all night which helped me sleep. I did not get much sleep this past week.
We got some breakfast sandwiches from the store before we head out of here today and go up to Newport, Pennsylvania to stay at Little Buffalo State Park for a week.
