This week we took the Downeast Scenic Railroad tour. It was not-so scenic, but it was nice. I love old trains and this was something I wanted to do. It was 12 miles of maintained tracks that were a huge part of Maine railroad history. We went through a “wye” to turn around. It powered up slowly through the railyard and traveled past other locomotives and cars being restored and maintained. They are maintained and run by volunteers only, which is amazing.
We went over bridges and saw some of the city. Then the locomotive uncoupled from the train and passed by on a siding heading to the rear of the train. Once it recoupled, we traveled across the Union River, reversed directions, and then went back to the boarding platform.
It was fun. We went on a train ride in Titusville, PA a few years ago and I thought that was more entertaining.
Work has been good. I am getting to know everyone a little better and I still enjoy it. They are doing construction near the kiosk I work in so that is a little amusing (I see a lot of buttcracks, which is not-so fun). My Vespa is so much fun, but I am not sure if I will keep it once we leave here in October.
Tomorrow, I will be taking Brian on our 4 hour Acadia National Park Trolley Tour, so watch for next weeks blog for that!
