Today we went on the Sea Princess for a nature cruise through the Somes Sound. We left from Northeast Harbor and went past Bear Island, Sutton Island, Cranberry Islands, and Greening Isle. There was a lot of fog when we left, so we didn’t get too many photos. We saw an Osprey Nest that was over 100 years old, but there are no Osprey inhabiting it. We saw seals and tons of birds! Others saw porpoises, I did not.
We got to stop at one of the Cranberry Islands (Islesford) and walk around. There are people that live on this Island year round. There was a restaurant that was not yet open when we got there, a pottery shop, a small gift shop, a small historical museum, a boat place called Islesford Boatworks, and a post office. It took us 45 minutes to explore the most of the island. There was also a little boy selling items with a sign that said he was saving for camp. He had some cute stuff, but I did not take cash with us or else I would have bought something.
It was a nice day. Brian and I got out of the camper without the dogs (yes, they are now ok by themselves again) and we even got to have lunch. It was a nice little day date! It was nice to explore more parts of Acadia National Park on what the locals call “The Quiet Side”.

Our lunch at Nor’Easter Pound and Market. I had the buffalo cauliflower and Brian had a crab cake that we did not get pictures of cause we were starving!
This was a little foot in front of us on the boat that I couldn’t resist tickling!
It was a good time. Next week I think we will explore Southwest Harbor and/or Seal Cove.
