After we left the train museum in West Virginia, we headed towards South of the Border in South Carolina. If you have ever drove on I95 towards South Carolina, you know what South of the Border is. We stayed at Pedro’s Campground for one night and we could have stayed for two or three nights to visit all the shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back here.
Pedro really has his own little town here. There is a campground, motel, truck stop, gas stations, small store, shops, and restaurants. We only ate at one restaurant, Sombrero, which served American food (burgers, fries, ect.). We had dinner and breakfast there since they gave us a coupon for 10% off.
The campground was very nice. It was clean and quiet. It seemed like this area was near a dirt bike racing place. There was a lot of dirt bike racers and there was even a dirt bike store/shop. We didn’t get many pictures since it now gets dark at 5pm!
After we left South of the Border, we went all the way south of South Carolina and stayed the night at another Harvest Host, Highway 21 Drive-In! This was so much fun. We stayed on a Thursday, so it was not busy at all. There were four other campers there and three of us had one screen all to ourselves. We got to see an early release of The Marvels. I am not a huge fan of these movies, but it was cool to spend the night here. To have access to all your home amenities, while being at the drive-in, AMAZING! We have outdoor speakers, so we tuned in to the station and were able to listen to the movie in “surround sound”.
The owner was very nice, she came to greet us and we had free reign of the entire place before and after the movies. They had a snack bar, that was more restaurant than snack bar. It was great, even though I started to get sick when we left South of the Border. Our neighbors here were also full-timers and were Yoga instructors. They were new to full-timing, so Brian gave them some ideas of things we have that make life a whole lot easier.
We left this Harvest Host and made our way to Florida, where we will be for the winter. It is really nice here, but the weather has not been great since we got here. Next week, hopefully, I will have more to tell you about this place.
