I know I haven’t been blogging as much as I should lately. Not much to talk about. Moxxi has a bacterial infection in her bladder that she picked up in Maine. It is very resistant to most antibiotics. We had to have special antibiotics shipped to us from Jacksonville, FL. We also had to get her special food. We did learn a few years ago that she is susceptible to UTI’s since she has a “hooded” vulva, so I knew that this would eventually get worse than an UTI. She has been on the meds for a few days now and it seems to be helping, but she is not a fan of the $100 dog food…
But lets go into another subject. The campground we are at is very nice and has AMAZING sunsets. It is in the middle of nowhere. It’s 20 minutes to the closest gas station, 30 minutes to the grocery store, and about an hour to a shopping area (shopping other than food). It has 35 camp spots and three rental units, a tiny house and two campers. There is also a marina where there are gators, turtles, heron, cormorants, and white ibis. I always forget to take my phone when we walk the dogs and there was a morning where we saw a gator sunbathing and a turtle was next to it, it looked like they were snuggling!
I do get bored since Brian is either working at the store, fixing something in or on the camper. Most of the time I am listening to podcasts while doing jigsaw puzzles on my iPad or watching tv. I have some books on my Kindle to read, but I haven’t been in the mood to read lately. I of course clean everyday. I also decorated for Christmas. I’ll post pics when it is closer to Christmas. The dogs get more walks since the campground is smaller and there is not a big loop to go around.
We are close to Ocala National Forest, but we have not made it there yet. The weather has not been that great since we got here, except the days Brian is working, of course. We did find a restaurant that allows dogs inside and on the waterfront deck. We went for lunch the other day and it was pretty good. The dogs enjoyed french fries and the owner (I assumed she was the owner) gave them milkbones.
The owner of the campground did ask Brian if I would be interested in maybe cleaning the rental units when people check out, which is not often, and I did say yes. I’ll let you know how that goes when I start.
All in all, the campground is great, but for long term stays like we are doing, is only for the people that want solitude and beautiful sunsets. I am the type of person that likes solitude, but also wants to be near excitement.
I am not complaining, I am just being truthful.
It looks like the weather will be getting better next week, so we will get out and explore more then. I have been riding my Vespa since there is not much traffic. I missed riding it. I took it to the post office yesterday to dropped off our annual holiday cards and it was COLD! The temp was 68, but on the Vespa it felt like 30!
Here is the only good sunset picture I got since my camera sucks (my phone is old). I’ll have to see if I can steal some from the Facebook page.
