If you read our last post, you know we had some issues. We ended up staying at South of the Border for 9 days. We ended up paying for the parts and labor just to get things rolling and good thing we did because Grand Design ended up telling us that the slides are both out of warranty, the day before the parts arrived! BUT, they said they would reimburse us for the parts. So we ended up only paying for the labor. Here are some pictures from the repair. This was only the second time this RV Tech did this type of replacement, and I think this may be his calling! Our slide has never been this smooth!
While we were in South of the Border we ate at all the restaurants. We went to Sombrero for dinner one night and breakfast one morning, it was good American fare. We went to Burritos Locos twice for dinner and it was delicious. We went to Peddlers Steakhouse and I was not impressed. First, I ordered a water and it tasted like the glass was dirty (even drinking through a straw), the utensils were not very clean, and the salad bar was so so. The main course was good, but I don’t think I would recommend this place or ever go back.
We went back and forth on whether we wanted to drive straight through to Florida or stop for the night. We ended up staying at the Harvest Host that we had originally planned on, Coastal Empire Brewing in Savannah Georgia. We stayed here once before and it was pretty nice. We got set up and Brian went to Walmart to buy a fan since it was very hot here. While he went to Walmart, Moxxi, Tucker and I went to the bar. I got a Tropic Thunder, pineapple and mango seltzer. It was delicious! We stayed cool in the bar for a while then went back later with Brian. We ended up getting 2 growlers to take home since they didn’t have cans of the drinks we liked.
We left Coastal Empire Brewing and headed for Florida. We arrived late in the afternoon Sunday and we have a new site this year. It has a deck and is closer to the water! They did get some damage from Hurricane Milton, but not much, mostly flooding. We are glad to be back. It is VERY humid and I do not like humidity at all. My hair is constantly looking greasy from all the sweat and I do not like it. A few more weeks and it will cool down. Moxxi and Tucker are excited to know that the guy on the golf cart that always give them treats is only 2 doors away.
On Tuesday, election day, we drove to Bushnell to vote and Brian got in his Burger King fix.
I have been deep cleaning the camper and relaxing, enjoying not having to work or worry about camper issues. I did apply for a job at a nearby gas station because I know I will get bored, but I haven’t heard back. Brian is looking for a remote job so that he can stay home and work. He works in the campground office 2 days a week in exchange for our site.
Hoping to have more adventures this winter and share them all with you!
