Well, the Michigan Beet Harvest was a waste of time. Brian was asked to be there October 14th, so we left Maine two weeks earlier than we would have to make it to Michigan on time. We were there on time, and he had his orientation on October 15th. He didn’t actually start work until October 27, so we sat there for about two weeks… which if we stayed in Maine, we could have made money in those two weeks.
Brian worked eight, yes EIGHT, days before they told him and a few others they were no longer needed. This was a job that was supposed to last from October 20 to November 20. If he were to work that full month, he could have made around $6k. Apparently the crop was not very good this year.
Anyways, we were not very happy that we didn’t make the money that was advertised, but what are you gonna do (shit happens). I was ok leaving Michigan early since snow was in the forecast a few days after we left.
We left Michigan and stayed at a Love’s RV stop in Sydney, OH. It was a nice little spot, it is a gas station, so we knew there would be some noise, but there was very little. We didn’t get many pictures on this trip, but here are a few.
We left Ohio and went to a state park in Jellico, TN. We stayed at Indian Mountain State Park and it had AMAZING views! The site was nice and level as well.
We left Tennessee and stayed at a Harvest Host in Georgia, Lane Southern Orchards. It was a nice parking lot with a great store and amazing cafe that serves food. We ate dinner when we got there, I got the meatloaf and Brian got a buffalo chicken wrap. We ate breakfast in the morning as well and both were delicious!
We left Georgia for Florida, with a minor hiccup with our slide, but all is well! We did not tell any of our friends from the campground in Florida that we left Michigan early so we could surprise them. There is a group text between eight of us and when we finally pulled up at the campground, I took the below picture and captioned it home sweet home…
We parked the truck and walked around and they were all together at one campsite and were plenty happy to see us! We love our Pine Island family and are so glad we were able to come back! We will be here until at least April of 2027. A few pictures from our first week back… The first picture is of steps that our neighbor built for Moxxi to get up on the deck a little easier. We got a fence so that the dogs do not have to be on leads and get tangled constantly, and faux grass so they don’t have to lay in sand.
We will be here for a while, but I will keep making blogs on all the things that go on. I am going to be hosting Bingo nights twice a month here and maybe start up some other events. Maybe Brian will write a blog about his beet harvest experience as well.
