We are at our new campground now and I am back at working. Brian is working on the road. Our new campground is very nice and quiet. It’s gated so I feel a lot safer without Brian being around as much. I do miss our friends at the other campground, but I hear that the place that we were at has changed for the worse. So I am especially happy to not be there without Brian. I don’t want to be negative about the campground, but this past season that we worked there, everything seemed to have changed from the previous times we worked there, including the clientele. Here are pictures of our new site.
My new job is pretty easy. This campground caters more to long term guests and not as much weekenders. I answer the phones, sort through mail, take reservations, clean the women’s restroom and the lounge, feed the resident turtles, YES TURTLES!!, and watch people swim in the pool. Here are the resident turtles Bowser (Formerly Henry), Cherry and Rosie (formerly Crush and Rafael).
This campground has some interesting statues in it as well.
The campground had a Memorial Day picnic, which I thought was very nice. They had hamburgers and hot dogs as well as drinks and everyone brought a side dish or dessert. The dog is one of the worker’s, her name is Chocolate.
Brian was home for our anniversary, 17 years we have been married! While he was home, I put him to work fixing or preventing things from breaking while I was working. We did a foodie tour in St. Augustine for our anniversary outing. It was so nice! St. Augustine is a beautiful town and so full of history. We were driven around on a golf cart through the town and learned it’s history and made some stops along the way to try some amazing food! First we stopped at a restaurant, I can’t remember the name of it, and had some appetizers. We had hummus with tomatoes, kalamata olives, cucumber, and pita chips. Yum! This restaurant used to be a swimming pool! Our second stop was The Gifted Cork and we had a charcuterie board and did a wine tasting. Our next stop was O.C. Whites and we had coconut shrimp and bruschetta. For our last stop, a coffee shop (sorry, I don’t remember the name of it) and we had desserts. It was a pretty great anniversary outing.
So to sum it up, I really like this campground. I feel safer and I am definitely less stressed! I am starting to regret being in Florida during the summer. I do not like humidity and it is pretty bad already during spring/beginning of summer. I watched a YouTube video of guy who was born and raised in Florida and he says Florida is just preheating right now. He also says you don’t live in Florida, you survive Florida. I am definitely going to try and survive this summer. I may be a hermit most of the time, but I am determined to stay. I will say this, I will NEVER stay in Florida past May ever again. I am looking at campgrounds to stay at next summer to be near where Brian will be working so that it is closer for him to come home and if I have time off I can go and visit him. It is hard not being with him everyday, but there are a couple perks to having him out on the road working, like having more room in the bed and eating meals I know he dislikes (I do miss you, honestly)!
Instead of alligators and blue heron like at our last campground, we have TONS of spiders, ants, mosquitoes, deer flies, and a few frogs! I am starting to dislike deer flies a lot more than mosquitos!
I have some touristy things planned for when Brian is home for us to do and will let you all know about them when we do them.
